Khushali Sehat

Healthcare and Sanitation

Khushali Sehat is DCM Shriram’s comprehensive approach to healthcare. With the aim of reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, this initiative aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing). Given below are the highlights of the program:

  • Deploying village-level workers (VLWs) called Sehat Saathis in adopted villages.
  • Collaborating with Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHAs) and Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANMs) to mobilise pregnant women, lactating mothers, and adolescents.
  • Focusing on immunisation, malnutrition, menstrual health management, and promoting institutional deliveries.
  • Strengthening government health facilities and creating community demand to lower Infant Mortality Rate and Maternal Mortality Rate.

Mobile Health Units and Kishori Utkarsh Pahel are two major projects under the umbrella of Khushali Sehat.

Mobile Health Units

MHUs are deployed in order to enhance community outreach by providing city-level health facilities to rural women. Equipped with the latest medical facilities for antenatal and postnatal check-ups and high-risk pregnancy diagnoses, these units have served 122 Gram Panchayats in Gujarat, 12 in Kota, and 4 blocks in UP.

Kishori Utkarsh Pahel

Kishori Utkarsh Pahel

With the aim to educate and strengthen adolescent girls, the DCM Shriram Foundation launched Kishori Utkarsh Pahel in collaboration with the Bharuch District Administration. Aligned with UNICEF India and MS University, the program focuses on proper nutrition intake, health and hygiene, life skills, rights and entitlements, and government schemes for girls in the 123 villages of Jhagadia Taluka, Bharuch. Selected girls undergo capacity-building sessions and advanced training, becoming 'Adarsh Kishoris' and 'Taluka Jagrut Kishoris' who play an active role in their communities. The program has also been extended to Ankleshwar Block and Bharuch Urban.
